Meet The Chef

Hi , my name is Tonya Wilson. I grew up with great cooks. They never asked me to cook and I wasn’t interested in cooking. I didn’t begin to cook until I gave birth to my first daughter, (Maya). I decided that at some point I needed to cook for her so I began watching PBS cooking shows for ideas. I would cook only those food items on Sunday. Suddenly, I began to think about food all the time…falling in love with it at 24 years old! I purchased cook books, magazines, and researched.

After becoming pregnant again with Jordan, (2nd daughter), I became a stay-at-home mom. I cooked all kinds of meals for my family. I cooked for holidays, birthdays, super bowl parties, or just because it was Sunday. My ex-husband (Antwan) enjoyed having friends and family over to hangout. These became opportunities for food tastings. Antwan and the kids were tough food critics, for which I am thankful today!

After giving birth to Madison, (third daughter), Antwan was hired for a new job but the hiring manager went on vacation. Since he had already quit his old job what were we going to do?

That’s when I started cooking meals for pay. I cooked for my mother in law (Linda), co-workers, and the kids teachers. It was a hit for a month, until Antwan started to work and Maya and Jai went to school. There was no way to cook with a baby, so I had to stop.

After my last two daughters (Brooklyn & Journey) were born, Antwon and I separated and I found myself starting out all over again. It was difficult since I had not worked for 9 years.

I promised God I would go to cooking school if my boss ever fired me…lol. Instead a recession hit, the business closed, and I went to culinary school. It was probably the hardest thing I had ever done. By now all of my 5 girls are in 5 different schools. Family friends, ( The Curry’s) helped me when life felt like it was falling apart. I have now been cooking professionally for over 15 years. The last 5 years, I have been cooking for up to 220 kids ages 0-10. I have learned how to get them to eat vegetables.

Let me help you. Life is busy today and you don’t have to feel guilty for buying your kids food out to eat; You don’t know if it’s healthy or not. Let me cook for you. It will be like you cooking, but without the work. I would love to cook healthy meals for you and your family.
